Glass is incredibly durable, scratch and stain resistant and also resists thermal shock.
There many different types of glass used for basins but the most common is toughened, or tempered glass. Tempered glass is up to 5 times stronger than regular glass, and if broken, produces small blunt pieces of glass instead of sharp shards like normal glass.
Glass is available in many finishes including coloured, frosted and textured (slumped) glass.
