SEMI-RECESSED WALL HUNG VANITY - MOULDED TOP

A semi-recessed wall hung vanity unit with a moulded top has a 1 piece moulded benchtop on a narrow depth, wall hung cabinet.

The wall mounted cabinet creates the illusion of a larger room as more floor space is visible, however you will have less storage space than a floor standing vanity unit due to the shorter cabinet height.

Semi-recessed vanity units are ideally used in smaller bathrooms where space is a premium.

The narrow depth cabinet takes up much less floor area while still providing adequate storage space. The bowl of the basin extends past the front of the cabinet to provide a full size bowl.

MOULDED VANITY TOP
  • The moulded top can be made of Ceramic (vitreous china), Polymarble or acrylic.
  • The bowl is seamlessly integrated into the benchtop, creating an easy clean, hygienic benchtop.
  • The moulded top, depending on the length of the cabinet, may have single or double bowls.
  • Moulded tops are available with 1, 3 or no tapholes, depending on the type of tapware used.
  • In most cases, the bowl will be positioned in the centre of the benchtop.

VANITY CABINET SIZES
  • For pre-made vanity units, there are several standard lengths:
      • 600mm
      • 750mm
      • 900mm
      • 1200mm
      • 1500mm
      • 1800mm
  • There may be other lengths available depending on the manufacturer.
  • Widths (front to back), will generally range from 300mm to 360mm, with the bowl width up to 500mm.
  • There are smaller semi-recessed ensuite vanity units available to suit small bathrooms and powder rooms. They can be 400—500mm long, with the bowl projecting about 350mm.
  • Custom made cabinets are possible if you are after a particular colour, height or door/ drawer configuration, however, the cabinet size (length/width) will be determined by the size of the moulded top.

VANITY CABINET FINISH
  • The cabinet is available in many materials or finishes.
  • Gloss polyurethane (2 pack) or a laminate in woodgrain or coloured finishes are the most popular.
  • Other finishes such as vinyl wrap, melamine, solid timber or metal finishes are also available.

VANITY CABINET DOORS AND DRAWERS CONFIGURATIONS
  • There are many different door/ drawer configurations available.
  • The most standard configurations, depending on the length of the vanity unit, are door/s with drawer/s to the left, right or both sides of the doors.
  • The cabinet can also contain all drawers. This is becoming a very popular option as the drawers enable maximum usability of the storage space.

VANITY CABINET DOOR AND DRAWER PROFILES
  • Depending on the material the door/ drawer is made of there may be several options available to the types of door patterns.
  • Polyurethane (2 pack), Timber and vinyl wrap doors may be available with pencil round (rounded) corners, glass inserts or routed (carved) patterns.
  • Laminated and metal doors will only be available with squared edges and a plain, unglazed, unrouted door/ drawer front.

WASTE TRAP CONSIDERATIONS
  • Wall mounted vanity units are best suited to a P Trap installation. If you need the waste to go through the floor, S Trap, the waste pipe will be visible. There are several options to disguise the waste pipe eg. Chrome tube covering or a tiled surround are 2 popular options.
  • When choosing the vanity unit, note where the waste outlet is located in the bathroom to avoid any issues arising when connecting the waste.
  • The main problems will be choosing a cabinet where the drawer bank is positioned over the waste outlet, or the depth of the cabinet is too narrow and doesn’t cover the existing waste.
