BATHROOMS - Some common pitfalls

Bathrooms are the most commonly used room in the home and choosing the right products will make using this room enjoyable for many years to come. They are also an expensive room so you need to try and get it right the first time.

I will now run through a few common pitfalls clients face with products and their bathroom project.

Make sure the products you choose are the right size.
Nobody likes using a squashy bathroom. Allow enough room to easily navigate the room, to have enough drying/ dressing space, and enough room to comfortably use the basin or vanity.

Make sure when you go to choose products you have all your measurements and any additional information with you.
All to often clients have to go away and find out basic information about their requirements before the selection process can begin. BE PREPARED. This will save yourself alot of time running back and forth to the showoom.

Get a "Shedule of Works" from your Builder or Plumber.
Knowing the order in which the project will take is going to allow you to make sure the items they need to complete each stage is there ready for them.
One of the main problems we see in the Bathroom Showroom is clients coming in needing a shower mixer urgently, "the plumber just told me he needs it today", unfortunately for the client the style of their tapware is now governed by what happens to be in stock, and not by what they trully want.
By knowing when you plumber is going to need the items you can make sure you have them ready for him.
Just so you know, the shower or bath mixer needs to be installed into the wall before any wall linings go on. It will be one of the first things your plumber will need, so make sure you have this ready for him. For some reason many plumbers forget to tell their client's this.

Order and take delivery of your products well before you need them.
Another major problem faced in a bathroom showroom is client's placing orders for product at the last minute, which doesn't allow time for fixing any problems that may occur, and problems do happen. All stock needs to be manufactured or imported, warehoused, transported, warehoused again and so on. Product can, and does, get damaged during these processes. So make sure you order well in advance so any problems, be it damage or out of stock issues, can be resolved well before the product needs to be installed.

This should start to take the headache out of it a little bit. As I think of more I will add them.
Many thanks
